Ways to Help

Since we are a very young order and are growing very quickly, we have many pressing needs--so there are any number of ways in which people can help us!

Make a Monetary Donation: We currently have nearly 60 men in formation in this province, all of whom we must feed and provide with health care in addition to the costs associated with their studies. Just as pressing is the fact that within the next year we will entirely run out of space in our seminary and either need to buy/build a new building or purchase houses next to our current seminary--currently we do not have nearly enough money to do either. There are also several other important projects for which we are currently fundraising (see here for more details). If you are able to make a monetary donation, please use the "Donations" link on the menu on the left, or contact us is you have any questions.

Contribute to the Liturgical Life of the Seminary: There are a number of liturgical items of which we are also in need. The following items would be particularly useful:*
*We know that many of these items are expensive bought new, but also know it is also possible that some of our friends and benefactors (particularly priests) might have some of these items in a worthy but used condition, and which are no longer of use to them.

Make Another Contribution: We are always very grateful to anyone who can make any donation whatsoever, but there are particular things that we stand in the most need of. These include:
  • food (almost anything!)
  • toiletries
  • undershirts
  • socks
  • black sweaters
  • black pants
  • white dress shirts (for our postulants)
  • black jackets & coats
  • appropriate books: philosophy, theology, history, etc.
  • any nice religious artwork (pictures, prints, statues) for the (now rather bare) walls of the seminary
  • wall crucifixes of any size (we need them for a number of the rooms and halls in our seminary)
  • a high-quality camera (a digital SLR that can take pictures in rapid succession and has a decent photo quality in low-light conditions
If you have any questions regarding whether we might be able to use something, please feel free to contact us.

Volunteer: Anyone who wishes to help us with our various apostolates in and around Washington, DC would be very much welcome--please just contact us. In addition, anyone who would like to do volunteer work with of a particular nature (everything from carpentry to artistic talent to website design) would likewise be of great assistance to us.

Pray: This is undoubtedly the most important. Please remember our religious family in your prayers!

God and Intelligence
right

In this book, Fulton Sheen addresses what G. K. Chesterton called “the most tremendous question in the world; perhaps the only question in the world:” how man, through the power of reason, can know the nature of God. Tracing the course of philosophy from the Middle Ages to modern times, he shows Thomistic realism to be an adequate response to modern ideals. Emphasizing reason as a way of attaining knowledge of God, Bishop Sheen identifies the current age of agnosticism with its simultaneous distrust of reason. In a lucid tone, he analyzes the modern attack on intelligence, while presenting Scholastic philosophy as the solution to modern problems. Bishop Sheen succeeds in actualizing St. Thomas to such a degree that he ends up proving that Scholastic philosophy speaks to the world today as freshly as it did to the world of the 13th century.

IVE Press

This is one of the most enduring works by Servant of God Fulton J. Sheen—one of the great Catholic writers, apologists and prelates of the 20th Century. It is being published again by the IVE Press to re-awaken the Catholic understanding of the Holy Mass as the Sacrifice of Calvary renewed, re-enacted, re-presented for our salvation. Calvary is one with the Mass, and the Mass is one with Calvary.

*IVE Press is a new English and Spanish language publishing house founded by the IVE in the U.S.
